The Committee had been busy the evening before the opening, setting up the stands. We tried a new arrangement which made more hanging space and allowed more artists to participate.
On the morning of the opening all the artists arrived with their work and drew numbers for their stands. They then hung their work and the exhibition started taking shape. 66 Artists took part.
The weather was good for the first few days but there were some rainy days with few visitors. In spite of this, one sculpture and 44 paintings were sold, as well as 59 portfolio works and 18 miniatures. The total value of the work sold was R118 210. About half of the buyers were from South Africa, and the others were from Australia, Switzerland, China, UK, USA, Austria, Indonesia, Sweden, Brazil, Malaysia, Norway, Finland, Saudi Arabia, France, New Zealand and Germany.
